Teased in the 1989 cult movie Back to the Future 2, Nike finally gives us the street-ready power lacing we’ve all been waiting for. Using the 1991 Huarache as the base and seeking to retain some of the original DNA that made it such a hit, this pair transforms the aquatic-inspired silhouette into something straight from the future.
Using eye-catching yellow across its mesh upper, this iteration of the Adapt Huarache features minimal branding throughout – akin to Tinker’s original – and wears elastic panels to create a comfortable sock-like fit. The deviation is, however, the important part here. Doing away with traditional lacing systems, this pair wears the latest FitAdapt technology to ensure on-the-go adjustability in true futuristic style. Sitting exposed across the upper, the technology is controlled through the two buttons to the midsole or through a smartphone app, with the app also allowing the user to choose their own light colour, finishing the striking sneaker with a unique touch of customisability.
